Exhibition Details

Here are the postcards advertizing the PDML exhibition at the DANKHaus.

Pictures at an Exhibition

One of my photos has been chosen to be displayed at an exhibition of prints by members of the PDML (Pentax-Discuss Mailing List) at Gallery Dank Haus in Boston. The exhibition opens on May 7th.
All the exhibition photos plus more from other members will also be featured in a book to be published shortly by Blurb. This will be the 2nd PDML annual to be produced. All proceeds of sales are to go to a childrens’ charity.

Here is the photo – entitled “Milkweed”
It is for sale as a limited edition print. A framed copy can be bought from the gallery and this will be print 1/25.

Skiing

For the first time in at least 4 years we went away for a couple of days with friends Chantal & Rob.
We started at Mont Tremblant on Mondy, then drove over to St-Sauveur Monday evening to ski there on Tuesday. I’d forgotten how much fun it was! The slopes weren’t too busy despite it being a holiday in Ontario (family day) and the USA (Presiden’t day). There had been a couple of cms fresh snow overnight at Tremblant so the slopes were just perfect. There had been no snowfall at St-Sauveur, but the slopes were groomed to perfection with no hint of ice.

New Dogmobile!

After yet another trip to the garage with the white van, this time the heater fan broke (again), we came to the conclusion it was time to stop throwing money at the old girl. We took the plunge and bought a 2008 Grand Caravan to replace the white one. Now I have a lot of work ahead of me to transfer all the crates and junk over from the old van to the new one!

Happy Birthday, Matthew!

22 today 🙂

Indy RN

At the BDOC rally trial this weekend, Indy earned her CKC Rally Novice title with two scores of 99!
She also earned her first advanced leg on Sunday. Good girl Indy!

Agility Engineer

Not me – but a girl called Jessica
I discovered this while surfing around the internet, following a link from the agilitynerd blog
She has a couple of good rants on there, well worth a read!

A Good Start

Our first trial of the New Year is over and already Ivan has earned himself a couple more titles. At Morningstar in Kingston this weekend he earned his Master Jumpers and Master Snooker titles!
Tyra pulled off Qs in the first two standard runs of the day to earn her Gold Award of Merit (50 Standard Qs and 100 Games Qs). She shared the honour with Jane Buckley’s Fly, who also earned his Gold on the same run.

Looking Back on 2009

2009 was a good year for us competition-wise

Ivan started competing in agilty at the end of April, just before his 2nd birthday. Between then and the end of November, he earned 15 agility titles in three venues (AAC, CKC and AKC) plus 2 Rally novice titles (CKC & AKC)
I am absolutely blown away by everything Ivan has achieved in such a short time!
Ivan is:
Spiritus Dare Ewe MADC AGDC AGX AGXJ OA AXJ NF (CKC/AKC) RN

Tyra had a most amazing year too. As she began the year as a masters/excellent dog there was no way she could top Ivan’s titling score. However, she showed her all-round skills and totalled 16 titles in 4 venues over the course of the year! She earned 2 regular obedience titles and 6 Rally titles. One of those Rally titles was earned at the BSDCC Specialty with a perfect 100 and earned her high in trial.
To top it all, she placed 5th in her division in both the AAC Regional Championships and the National Championships. She also reached the steeplechase final in both events for the second year running and won her class in the regionals.
The end-of-year stats show her at number 13 in the AAC top dogs list with an amazing 122 Qs! She also made the top Steeplechase dogs list at number 4

Tyra is:
Ch Blackcomb’s Dreaming of Ewe ATChC, Silver AOM, VSA, ExSt Silver, EXJ Gold, EXG Silver, EXS Silver, EXSc Silver, AGX, AGMXJ, HT, AX, MXJ, XF, RACL (CARO), RE (CKC/ACK), PCD, CD, DD

There I’ve done it 🙂
That’s my brag for this year (hope I’ve not left anything out 😀 )

Oh yes, and Marco started his show career with a 4 point major at the AKC Salt City Cluster show in Syracuse – How could I forget that! He was only shown a few times at the beginning of the year and also picked up a few CDN points too. He’s now being “rested” until he grows up a bit.

Poem

The previous post reminded me of a poem

Sara Coleridge
"Calendar"

January brings the snow;
Makes our feet and fingers glow.
February brings the rain,
Thaws the frozen lake again.

March brings breezes, loud and shrill,
To stir the dancing daffodil.
April brings the primrose sweet,
Scatters daisies at our feet.

May brings flocks of pretty lambs
Skipping by their fleecy dams.
June brings tulips, lilies, roses,
Fills the children's hands with posies.

Hot July brings cooling showers,
Apricots and gillyflowers.
August brings the sheaves of corn,
Then the harvest home is borne.

Warm September brings the fruit;
Sportsmen then begin to shoot.
Fresh October brings the pheasant,
Then to gather nuts is pleasant.

Dull November brings the blast;
Then the leaves are whirling fast.
Chill December brings the sleet,
Blazing fire and Christmas treat.
